Complete set, in exceptionally fine bindings by Carolus Johannes Mensing (1828-1912), of the valuable periodical on Utrecht's ancient history by Nicolaas van der Monde (1799-1847), the industrious keeper of the city's files. The present set includes all nine volumes of the first series and all three volumes of the second series. The periodical is illustrated with views and plans of the city never published elsewhere, like the large folding lithographed double-view of the Veterinary Academy at Utrecht.
With the bookbinder's label of the Amsterdam bookbinder Carolus Johannes Mensing (1828-1912) mounted on the front pastedown of each volume. The edges and corners of the boards are lightly scuffed. The first and last leaf of each volume is somewhat browned and foxed, the volume for the year 1837 lacks one quire, including one plate with a coat of arms. Otherwise a fine uniform set in good condition. Bodel Nijenhuis 2298-2299.
