A scientific article from The American Association of Petroleum Geologists Bulletin vol. 53, no. 3, which has been separately reprinted for private circulation. The research focuses on a specific part of the Oman mountains, the Jebel Akhdar anticline, which contains a section of massive limestones, ranging in age from Permian to late Tertiary. Within the late Cretaceous layer is an interesting combination of rocks that can also can be found on other locations on earth, but can be studied unusually well in Oman due to a natural disturbance. The author has done so in order to both understand the development of the region better and to explore the prospects of oil.
