Complete set of this major anthology of Latin poetry, edited by the Italian antiquary Pasquale Amati (1726-1796), and printed at Pesaro in the press established under his direction, the Amatina Chalcographia, with the financial support of Count Carlo Mosca Barzi (1720-1790), the works patron and sponsor.
The Collectio Pisaurensis is a vast corpus of Latin poetry and fragments, extending from the earliest phases of the Latin language to the 6th century and the Lombard period in Italy. It brings together pagan and Christian poets, as well as attributed and anonymous material drawn from manuscripts, inscriptions, and earlier printed sources. The first three volumes contain the major classical Latin poets (from Plautus to Claudian), volume IV the minor and anonymous pagan poets and fragments, and volumes V-VI the early Christian poets. The work is particularly significant for preserving a substantial body of early Christian Latin poetry, much of which was previously scattered or inaccessible.
All volumes have a bookplate mounted on the front pastedown "Ex libris J.B. Wilterdink", and a black circular library stamp with "afgeschreven" stamped over it. The title page of the first volume has been restored, the second volume shows minor finger soiling. All volumes show occasional browning and staining. Otherwise in very good condition. Graesse II, p. 215.
